Western Australia Trip 2011

The second day of our trip we lost a wheel off the camper whilst driving through Ouyen and dragged it along on its brake drum for 3km before being waved down by a passing motorist.  The RACV rescued us and whilst we walked around Ouyen waiting for the car to be repaired we spotted this mallee root weather indicator outside the police station.

We were in a hurry to reach Marree where we had arranged to meet South Australian friends so we only made overnight stops on the way.  Our first overnight was at Berri in the Riverland Region of SA a very appealing place we would like to return to, and the second at Parachilna.  We had dinner at the famous Prairie Hotel on the old Ghan railway line where they are famous for their cuisine.  We had an entree of smoked kangaroo, emu pate, and goat cheese with accompaniments (see photo) and we were so overcome with the presentation on the mains of kangaroo fillet steak, kangaroo sausage and emu steak we forgot to take a photo.  A most memorable meal.
